Blue Slide Park Event
One almost fall afternoon, September 7, 2018, many of our hearts were aching, confused, and in disbelief about the news that was being brought to our attention. We lost a legend, an icon, an artist, a beautiful soul, another human being. We lost Malcolm James McCormick. Mac’s music has taken on a journey over the course time, anyone who has felt the connection to Mac, might have experienced the feeling that we were all growing as people as he was growing himself and expressing his emotions through his music. We all felt that synchronizing events with his music and pieces of our lives. The last time I seen Mac perform was when he was hosting the homecoming event the whole weekend in Pittsburgh at Stage AE. I was within 20 feet of the stage and having the time of my life enjoying every moment of the high energy that Mac brought onto to stage anywhere he would go especially his hometown. There is always something different about seeing the artist in their own city, it turns a performance into a true party for a few hours. I could not wait to see this man again, I had floor seats for the Swimming tour in Pittsburgh as well last year in November, but got a unfortunate refund message. The swimming tickets were the only concert tickets that I have went to in years that I actually got physical tickets mailed to me months before the concert too, which I thought was very odd, but the tickets were meant to come into my possession for a reason. Now just a piece of memorabilia and memories that should of been. Some of his dearest fans and hometown supporters all came out last year on yet another sad day on September 11, 2018 at Blue Slide Park in his honor days after the death. To be apart the environment and just to reMeMber and feel the energy of everyone was a blessing and a beautiful sight to see. This year we will be back a day before on Friday September 6, 2019 to honor the fallen angel again. Now that we have a year to have a time to go through the grieving process, this next year it is time to flip the negative and transform it into a positive. Mac would want all his fans to be happy, woke, and creative as possible. The man just wanted to find happiness and give people the same sense of appreciation. “To Live life, you kids might just close your computer”, Yes we are all on a computer right now, but we have to remember all the same tools that are put in front of us for entertainment and distraction, are also super powerful tools to create anything the mind can think. We just need to want it more than we ever did before. Mac sacrificed himself to the world through his music, now someone needs to carrying on the wisdom of his spirt. Lets keep growing the Machead community and inspire each other to grow together and never stop learning new things. Lets create a better world with more art & positivity for Mac. I hope to see & meet as many people there as possible. Thank you for your time & safe travels everyone.
